I knew y’all would have a gif set of this by morning.
Truth.
Okay
So the IQ tests are designed to determine how well an individual will do in a school setting. Success in schools as they are (which is another problem entirely) requires one thing: the ability to quickly memorize and regurgitate facts like what year Columbus sailed the ocean blue, or the definition of a logarithm. It’s an important skill to have, but by no means the only one. Also, IQ tests are culturally biased - it’s completely logical and predictable that someone just moving to this country and taking one of our IQ tests would get a lower score. It’s also logical that they might struggle more in one of our schools, because our school system is culturally biased too.
IQ tests are good for some things, like identifying an individual’s success, their strengths and weaknesses, but they aren’t meant for making broad comparisons across vastly different groups of people.

CUT! Classic actors flubbing their lines and goofing off, 1935-1940. 100% unscripted fun with Henry Fonda, Edmund Goulding (the only director in the bunch), Pat O’Brien, George Brent, Edward G. Robinson, Humphrey Bogart, C. Aubrey Smith, Leslie Howard, Errol Flynn, Bette Davis, George Raft, James Cagney, and Claude Rains. Get those giggles out, folks.
